Book Review – Anna Karenina

Anna Karenina Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

My rating: 2 of 5 stars
What I learned from this book: Never trust Leo Tolstoy.

It’s not like I don’t get it. I was quite into the romantic intrigue for the first, oh I dunno, 400 pages. I remember getting to page 450, at which point most of the cards are already on the table, and thinking ‘I wonder what crazy, outta-this-world shit is gonna happen in the next 600 pages!’ Turns out the answer was: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I read the first half in around 1-2 weeks, the second half in 1-2 months.

If you buy AK in the future, read the first half, burn the second and then return here for the only event of consequence in the second half:

*spoillllerrrr*

and…..

She throws herself in front of a train, and Levin wonders about the meaning of life for 100 pages.
