I’ve heard some people complain that there’s nothing to see in Taitung, but I would argue that they’re not looking hard enough.
The Mountain-Ocean Bikeway (鐵馬道) is a 20 km trail that circles Taitung. If you follow it the whole way around, you’ll be treated to a variety of different scenery, from the eponymous ocean and mountains to forests, rivers, urban boardwalks, and rice paddies. If you started in the morning you could probably make a walk of it (I was racing an elderly gentleman for most of the way; him with his power-walking, me with my oft-parked child’s bike).
Lovely bike ride. Why no picture of your child-bike?
